What a guy! Because Marty was the builder, the Mr. Fix It, and just simply knew a LOT about everything, he was my "projects go to guy". He patiently explained to me, sometimes repeating himself many times to make sure I understood, how to do something I was trying to tackle, or find, or do - and he giggled a lot in the process. I can only imagine what he was thinking - "the woman is crazy", "poor Dave", "she wants to find a "what" kind of tire in five minutes on Memorial Day Friday", and I know he often wanted to just come over and do it himself, first because he knew it would get done right and maybe secondly so I wouldn't call and ask another crazy question. Hahaha - I loved the man and will miss him. I hope you're watching out for me up there buddy because I'm not done asking "crazy" questions. Bobbe, yours is a friendship I cherish - we will reminise, laugh, and cry over his death. I am here for you always so today, in place of a real hug - this virtual one will have to do until I can give beautiful you the bear hug you need. I love you dear friend! Geri

Bobbe, So sorry for you loss. He is at peace and no more pain. I will keep near and dear to my heart the times we shared with you & Marty. BBQ's or just our get togethers when Cory came home to visit. Hugs! He will be missed!

Mom, there are no words that can express the sorrow this brings. While we all know life was filled with challenges for Marty, he overcame many and just plain defied others. He was strong and determined and always worked to make your life (and your home) better. While there are some unfinished projects (as always), that's life. We can't choose when or where, so together we all will carry on from here. I will remember MANY things about Marty, but probably the funniest (and certainly the scariest) moment with Marty was the time he decided to show us how to fry fish over an "open" fire ... inside the house - in the fireplace ... with an iron skillet that was easily 24" in diameter. (The fireplace wasn't even deep enough to accommodate it!) We were certain that, at the least, he was going to deep fry himself in the process ... or at worst, burn down the whole house! However, in true Marty fashion, he managed to pull it off and a fine fish fry was had by all. (Though he admitted afterwards that even he was afraid he might not be able to pull it off.) I think that story sums up Marty pretty well. Always trying to please. Sometimes scaring us in the process. Ultimately succeeding in the end - well, most of the time. 😉 We love and miss you, Marty. I know the last few years were hard and painful, so rest easy now and know we will take care of Mom for you. Many, many hugs and kisses.
