Fay J. Swede passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 13th, 2024, at the Benedictine Health Center.
Fay was born to Bill and Nellie Pohl on November 12th, 1946, in Virginia MN. She spent most of her life living in Northern MN. Fay loved her job working for the city of Duluth Water and Gas as a dispatcher for over 30 years, retiring at the age of 70. When not at work you could find her knitting or crocheting in her free time.
What Fay loved more than anything was her family which included her husband of 58 years, three children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Fay was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Nellie Pohl, nephew Michael Swede, brother-in-law Martin Swede, sister-in-law Raylene Swede, and son James Swede,
Fay is survived by her husband Arthur, children Caroleen (Floyd) Zylka, David (Missie) Swede, Daughter in law Erlene Swede, Grandchildren Raymond (Alex) Zylka, Caileigh (Tim) White, Nick Swede, Danielle Swede, Crystal (Fiancé Alex) Swede, Cayden Swede, Cole Swede, Logan Liimatainen, Alexis Liimatainen, Great Grandchildren, Marilynn, Leo, Oliver, Charlotte, Hudson and Zoey, Brothers Bob (Linda) Pohl, and Joe (Dawn) Pohl. Nieces and Nephews Michelle Pietras, Tricia (Bob) Soderburg, Chirs Pohl, Eric Pohl, Lexie Pohl, and Kasey Soderburg.
The family would like to thank Essentia Health St. Marys 15th floor staff and the Benedictine 2nd floor staff for their kindness and care to Fay.
