Charlie and I met in August 1960 when I started working with him in the engineering department at National Iron Co in West Duluth. We became life-long-very-close-friends for the last, nearly 60 years. My wife Mary and Bea Herman also became close friends. Charlie was a hard working guy and was meticulous, fun loving and had a great sense of humor! He was a great father, husband, and provider for his family. I was proud to be counted as one of his friends. Even though Mary and i moved from Duluth in 1967, we stayed in touch with cards, letters and many long phone conversations. We visited on our trips to Duluth and Charlie and Bea visited us in Brooklyn Center ,MN and in California. If I could have chosen a brother, Charlie would have been my choice. Mary and I loved Charlie and will miss him. We send our sincere condolences to Bea, Marty, Kenny, Denise and their spouses. Charlie was immensely proud of his kids and rightfully so!
