Committal Service, 11:00 AM, Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Duluth Veterans Cemetery, 4777 US Hwy 53, Saginaw, MN, followed by a Gathering of Friends and Family 2-6:00 PM at the Buffalo House, 2590 Guss Rd, Duluth, MN.
Zach M. McDonnell, 33, took his own life November 9, 2019. He was born August 27, 1986 in Duluth, MN.
Zach grew up in Hermantown, got his GED and entered the US Army. He served two tours in Iraq and was a decorated combat veteran. Zach was a rolling stone, and loved to travel. He had an awesome sense of humor and lust for life, he lived life fearlessly. He wanted to leave a legacy and he certainly did. Zach will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by; grandparents Jim and Harriet McDonnell.
Zach is survived by; parents Karleen Johnson, Michael (Jackie) McDonnell, sister Makayla (Aaron) Herstad; stepbrother Corey McDonnell; niece Mariella; aunts and uncles, Jim (Debbie) McDonnell, Kathy (Jim) Barry, Janine (Jerry) Ternes, Colleen Seafolk, Keith Johnson, Amber (Jason) Wick; grandparents Karl and Sidney Johnson, stepgrandparents Jan Wennberg and David (JoAnn) Nyholm; many cousins, extended family and friends. As well as his 11B Infantryman Brothers.
There will be an 11:00 am Committal Service, Friday, November 15, 2019 at the Duluth Veterans Cemetery, 4777 US Hwy 53, Saginaw, MN, followed by a Celebration of Life 2-6 PM at the Buffalo House Junction, 2590 Guss Rd, Duluth, MN.
