A Celebration of Shirley and Wally’s Life will be 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Superior Town Hall on Highway 35.
Wallace Nelson, 91, of Superior, died Friday March 31, 2017 in Superior surrounded by his family. He was born April 22, 1925 in Duluth to Andrew and Hanna (Hanson) Nelson.
Wally married Shirley Nelson on February 24, 1945 in Duluth while he was serving in the US Navy. After he returned home, they spent 71 years of marriage together. He worked at Murphy Oil as head operator of the FCCU.
Wally loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and being out at Lake Dowling. He was a talented woodworker, and shared his talents with his family and the public. Wally will be dearly missed.
Wallace is preceded in death by; his parents; and his wife Shirley.
He is survived by his children; Dawn Nelson, Char Morrow, both of Superior, Wally (LaVerna) Nelson of Cloquet, Rocky (Sharon) Nelson of Waunakee, WI, and Andy (Kathy) Nelson of Superior; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to say “Thank You” to the staff at Superior Rehabilitation and Health Center for the excellent care of Wally and Shirley.
