Vivian C. (Salmi) Cartier
April 7, 1942 - November 28, 2021
Vivian Charlene (Salmi) Cartier, age 79, passed away November 28, 2021 at Essentia Health Hospice after a brief battle with Lewy body Dementia. She had the most loving care from the Doctors, Nurses, Chaplin’s and Aides at Essentia Health St. Mary’s Hospice Duluth Team.
Vivian is survived by her loving husband John (Johnny) Cartier after 58 years and her sister, Lillian Larva of Hibbing.
Vivian was born April 7, 1942 in Kettle River, MN. She then grew up on the family farm in Meadowlands, one of 10 children and graduated from Meadowlands High School with Honors in 1960.
She started her journey with her husband John in the Air Force with a tour in Germany, then worked in the Medical Field, Aviation and Real Estate. She was an animal lover and adored her two Scottie Terrier sisters, Missy and Maxi. After retirement she and her husband John retired in Florida for 12 years. They recently returned home to their roots in Duluth to be with family and friends.
Burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery. A private service will be held with family and friends.
