In Remembrance

Virginia R. Bergquist, 92, lifelong resident of Superior, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Essentia St. Mary’s in Duluth, Minnesota. She was born October 23, 1928, daughter of William and Dorlina (Woods) Cronstrom.

Virginia graduated from Central High School in Superior and attended Superior State Teachers College. In 1948 she married Carl W. Bergquist and together they had four sons: Steve, Lee, Donn, and Ted. The family lived in Superior during the school year and enjoyed summers at their Lake Nebagamon cabin close to grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Upon reflection, the summers were a little bit of Mayberry.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, her sons Lee and Ted, and her sister-in law JoAnn Cronstrom.

Virginia is survived by sons Steven (Anna) Bergquist of Gilbert, Arizona, and Donn (Del) Bergquist of Lake Nebagamon, Wisconsin; brother, Gordon Cronstrom of Gold Canyon, Arizona; daughter-in-law, Roberta Bergquist of Superior, Wisconsin; and adopted daughters Jane (Tudy) Dolter and Joan Lindstrom of Duluth, Minnesota. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Nicole Stephens, Miles Bergquist, Casey Bergquist, Brian Bergquist, Sara Korba, and Jessica Page; thirteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Immense gratitude to Tudy, Joan, and Debbie Rasmussen for caring for Mom in her later years. With their efforts she was able to stay in her own home until January 2021. Appreciation also to her caregivers in her final months at Superior Rehab and Essentia St. Mary’s. Their compassion and kindness will be forever remembered.

Following Virginia’s wishes, no service will be held. Rest in peace, Mom.
