Sherry Johnson Rushing, 73, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away on October 3, 2026.
Sherry Lynn Johnson was born on May 6th, 1953, to Carl and Katherine Johnson. She grew up in Duluth, graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1971, and earned a degree in sociology from the University of Minnesota Duluth. She worked for Advanstar Communications and was a proud member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Sherry married Larry Rushing in May 1983. Early in their marriage, they lived in several places, including Arizona, California, and Idaho. They shared a love of animals, especially dogs– a love that began early for Sherry, who brought home stray animals as a little girl. Sherry and Larry practically invented pup cups, insisting on taking their dogs through the Dairy Queen drive-through long before Starbucks ‘stole’ the idea. She loved to read and will be remembered for her loud, contagious laugh.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Larry, her parents, Carl and Katherine Johnson; her brother, Gerald “Jerry” Johnson; her sister, Carol Bicich; her nephews, Scott Johnson and Steve Johnson; and her great-niece, Leslee Bicich.
She is survived by her sisters, Kathy Johanson and Bonnie (David) Ling; her nephews, Mike and Paul Bicich; and her nieces, Cate Young, Lori Miller, Tina Suthoff, Erika Johanson, and Stefanie Kasim; and great nieces; Amanda Murzynski, Chloe Walls, Grace Suthoff, Shelby White, Leah Bicich, Kayleen Kasim, and great-nephews Kevin and Sean Johnson, Jacob and Ben Miller, Josh Young, Cameron Kasim. 5 great-great nephews and 3 great-great nieces.
