Roy Edward Ohman Jr died peacefully at his Island Lake home on March 12, 2022 with his family by his side. Born in Duluth Mn on January 19th, 1942 to Faith (Eddy) Ohman and Roy Ohman Sr, he graduated from East High School in 1960. He served in the Army National Guard and when he completed his commitment went on to study at UMD. Over the years he had many sales jobs, but the one he was most proud of was his janitorial supply business which he later sold to Brissman Kennedy. Roy was most happy when he was at the cabin with his parents and children in his earlier years and then later with his children and grandchildren. He loved the Annual Eddy Family Reunion at Island Lake with his cousins, aunts, uncles, and all the families created from the Eddy Clan. There were many boat rides, skiers and tubers and endless evenings of fishing with the mosquitos. A fire on the beach complete with s`mores almost always followed. He had an unmatched sense of humor and wit. He never missed a punchline, a moment to share his “wisdom”, or an opportunity to help his family. Roy’s biggest blessings were his children and grandchildren. He was pretty proud of his wife most of the time too. He loved them big and loved them fiercely. Roy was given the gift of life when his son Steven donated a kidney to him in July, 2012. He could not believe that anyone would do that for him and he was forever grateful to be able to live a full life. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his wife Joni (Carl) Ohman of 44 years, his sister Mary (Ohman) Cibik of Bloomington MN, son Steven Ohman of Duluth MN, Daughters Tammy (Ohman)Herold (Damon) of Duluth MN, Wendy (Ohman) Mills (Kevin) of Plymouth MN, Shawna (Ohman) Byers (Jason) of Ham Lake MN and Linsey (Ohman) Burnside (Matthew) of Hutto TX. Roy leaves behind 14 beautiful grandchildren, one great-grandchild and his constant companion and possibly favorite child, Sam the fur child. He was so proud of each and every one of them. We would like to thank Dr Degaleau for taking so much time to talk to Roy about his health toward the end of his life as he was ever so patient and kind, the Essentia Health Hospice team for helping Roy and all of us, care for him in his home which is exactly where he wanted to be looking at the lake and the birds. A heartfelt thank you to his favorite hospice aide, Krissy whom he could not stop talking about along with Todd, Amanda, Abby, and Ali, Tim and Holly. A very special thank you to our wonderful friends who have always loved us so big. Roy’s wishes were to have a celebration of life at Island Lake with his friends and family. Roy was a blessing to all of us and we will miss him dearly. We will celebrate on July 3, 2022. “John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
