Roland A. “Skip” Yeaton Jr., 67, of Duluth, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Solvay Hospice House surrounded by love. Roland was born on October 9, 1950 in Skowhegan, ME to Roland Sr. and Ruth (Carr) Yeaton.

After graduating from Belfast High School, he pursued a career as a professional boxer and is still known to this day for his prowess in the ring with a record of 35-23-3 and 19 knockouts. He married Gail West on July 17, 1969. The family moved to Duluth in 1987 when he was transferred from Madison Paper in Maine to the Sappi paper mill, where he worked for several years. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

He will be remembered for his love of not only boxing but all sports (he loved attending and helping out at his grandkids sporting events), his kindness and patience towards children, undeniable work ethic, and being an avid Vikings fan (you would often find him dressed in purple year round!), but most of all for his devotion to his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Roland Sr. and Ruth, a brother Richard, and nephew Michael Fuller.

He is survived by his loving wife Gail; son Michael and Sherrill Yeaton; daughter Traci and Darrel Reynolds; grandchildren Anastasia, Joshua, Jacob, Steel, Sampson and great-granddaughter Ava; siblings David Yeaton from Rhode Island, Margaret Tower, Frances Riley, Roberta Fuller, Debra Pendleton and Robert Yeaton all of Maine; and dear friends and longtime neighbors Thomas and Adam Bersell.

Memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 410 N Arlington Ave, Duluth MN. Time to greet friends one hour prior to service.
