In Remembrance

Richard Lee Mass, 70, of the Town of Rice Lake, MN passed away in Duluth, MN on Sept 7, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. Rick was born on March 21, 1950 to Lawrence and Elsie (Rosenkranz} Mass.

Rick attended Homecroft Elementary, Washington Jr High and graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1968. He joined the Marines and served in Viet Nam. He retired from Coke-a-Cola as an installer and from the US Army Reserves where he served as a medic. Rick then established a career as a private contractor where he perfected his love and talent for working with his hands.

From the words of a friend, “Rick was full of energy, loved a good story, laughed with all that he had, enjoyed what he did and it seemed endless.”

Rick’s joys in life were family and friends. He had a great love of the outdoors enjoying golfing, fishing, hunting, boating, snowmobiling, his yard, being at the lake, building just about anything, and walking in the woods anytime of the year. Everything Rick did was an adventure – he was always looking for the next one.

Rick is survived by best friend Mary B Carlson; sister Jeananne Kinney; brother Lynn (Sandy) Mass; son Chad (Gina) Mass, daughter Karah (Jesse) Mass; grandchildren Dylan, Ashley, Sage, Taylee, Camden, and Eiley; step-sons Kris Seehus and Carey (Katie) Seehus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private committal service will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetary, Duluth, MN. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.
