Mary Lou Nelson, 77, of Duluth passed away Friday, October 15th, 2021 in her home with her family by her side after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Mary Lou was born October 13th, 1944 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin to Talford and Doris (Halverson) Eiken. She grew up in Duluth, Minnesota with her brother and five sisters. She graduated from Clover Valley High School in 1962.

Mary Lou worked as a waitress and was a housekeeper at the Voyageur Lakewalk Inn for many years later in life. She took pride in being a homemaker and taking care of her children, as well as her grandchildren. She was a fantastic cook, who loved feeding family and friends. Mary Lou always received compliments on her beautiful houseplants. She enjoyed getting together once a week with her longtime friend Jeanine for a beer! Mary Lou remembered everyone's birthday and their ages. She was jokingingly called the "Weatherwoman" because you could always call her for the day's forecast and if it was going to be windy or cooler by the lake! She loved her TV shows, especially those on the Investigation Discovery channel, Maury, and Steve Wilkos.

Mary Lou was a strong woman with a heart of gold, who would do anything for anyone. She was completely selfless and always worried about others. She truly was one of a kind and will be dearly missed.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Larissa, brother Thomas, sister Susan, and grandson Ryan. She is survived by her sons Shawn (Missy) Nelson, Joel (Kerri) Nelson, daughters Vanessa (Jeff) Everett, Justina (Dennis) Montgomery, grandchildren Sammy Jo, Jesse (Lacie), Nicholas (Kayt), Kayla, Chloe, Ellie, Coel, Darian, Dalton, Lou Lou, Farrah, and Scarlett, greatgranchildren Conner and Camryn.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 20th, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Foster's Sports Bar & Grill in Hermantown, Minnesota.
