Linda Kay Pellinen, 64, of Hoyt Lakes, MN, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN after a courageous two year battle with cancer. She was born November 18, 1954, to George and Phyllis (Boorom) Howard in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
Linda graduated from Aurora/Hoyt Lakes High School in 1973. Shortly after graduation, Linda met the love of her life, Gene Pellinen.

Linda worked for 28 years in the dietary department at Essentia Northern Pines Hospital and Care Center in Aurora, giving so much of herself to so many in her role as a caregiver. She was also employed by the Mesabi East School District and loved her role helping children.

Linda was a longtime resident of Hoyt Lakes and was active in her community including the Women’s Auxiliary, Moose Club and TOPS. Linda enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, and was an avid walker. She enjoyed spending time with and caring for her family, as well as spoiling her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by; her father, George Howard; stepfather Donald Klovstad Sr.; mother Phyllis Klovstad; siblings Cynthia Howard, and George Howard Jr.; and Gene Pellinen.

Linda is survived by; son Eric (Brenda) Pellinen; grandson Henry; stepson Gerald (Allison) Pellinen; grandson Gene; William (Michelle) Pellinen; grandchildren Alexander, Alissa, Ayla; siblings Timothy Howard, Kenneth Howard, Kimberly (Robby) Marwick, Christine (Donald Jr.) Erchul, Terry (Rhonda Heath) Klovstad, Thomas (Kerrie) Klovstad, Donald (Emily Davis) Klovstad Jr.; special friend Paul Thies; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. She was always there to help a family member or friend in need. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend.

Thank you to Essentia Hospice (Virginia and Duluth), Solvay House, her team at Mayo Clinic and everyone involved in the excellent care of our mother.
