Lester John Hunt Sr, 91 of Cloquet, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2021 at St. Lukes Hospital, Duluth, Mn. He was born May 4, 1930 in Duluth to John and Anna (Holmberg) Hunt.
Lester grew up in the Smithville area of Duluth. He joined the Navy in 1948 and served until 1953. On December 16, 1953, he married Shirley Ilean Rowell. He worked many years as a cement mason and finished his working career at Diamond Tool of Duluth. Lester and Shirley were foster parents to many children. Three special foster-daughters Marsha Moore, Tina Goodman and Kim Motley.
Lester is preceded in death by his wife Shirley, two sons Richard and Steven, foster-daughter Tina Goodman, brother and sister-in-law Bob & LaMae Hunt, brother and sister-in-law Fred & Irene Hunt, sister Peggy Burns, sister-in-law Helga Hunt, brother-in-law Richard Russell.
Lester is survived by daughter Ginny (Gene) Knudsen of Schroeder, sons Lester (Cindy) Hunt Jr of Sierra Vista, Az, Andrew (Lisa) Hunt of Duluth, foster-daughters Marsha Moore, Kim Motley, sisters Lois Robert, Ginger Russell, brothers John (Marie) Hunt and Ted Hunt. 10 grandchildren, Casey Abbot, Angie Hubbard, Adam Hunt, Amanda Wurst, William Hunt, Edward and Peter Knudsen, Erika Hunt, Breanna Smedshammer and Durrell Motley and numerous great grandchildren.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at a graveside service, at Hillside Cemetery, 300 CR-3 Carlton, Mn on August 21, 2021 at 11 am.
