Kim Maida

August 16, 1957 - December 1, 2020

A celebration of her life is planned for the Spring of 2021 at her home in West Duluth.

Kim Elizabeth Maida, age 63, passed away peacefully at her home in Duluth, in the company of her family on Tuesday, December 1st, from cancer. She put up tremendous strength and courage during her seven year battle.

She was born on August 16th, 1957 in Duluth, MN to Earnest and Lydia (Cote) Fontaine. She was the youngest of six children and graduated from Proctor High School in 1975. She married Steve Maida on July 9th, 1979. Together they had three children, two sons and one daughter, and four grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, baking, chatting with her sisters, and spending time with her children and grandchildren, whether that be swimming in the pool and grilling in the summer, or just cooking a family meal for a random gathering or a special occasion like a birthday or holiday.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her oldest brother Larry, her father and mother-in-law Sam and Carol Maida, and her son-in-law Dan Bergh.

She is survived by her husband, sons Jeremy and Andrew (Katie Erickson), daughter Jennifer (Cody Markhart), grandchildren Nate, Jovie, Annabelle, and Asher, sisters Mary (George Fastland), Barb (Bob Shovein), and Kathy, brother Greg, and many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to her nieces Jodi and Sherry, Patsy Bergh, Dr. Stubenvoll.Dr. Sande, Oncology dept and all the hospice staff from Essentia Health for all they have done for Kim and her family. And thank you to all the family and friends that have reached out.
