In Loving Memory

Kathy Ann Foltman

Kathy Ann Foltman, born on December 29, 1957, in Chicago, IL to Virginia Mae and the late Joseph Foltman, passed away on January 5, 2022 at the age of 64 in Duluth, MN after a challenging battle with COVID-19.

She will be greatly missed by her devoted son, Eddie; her beloved daughter, Ginny, and daughter-in-law, Brittney; her adoring granddaughter, Harlow; her loving mother, Virginia Mae; her five brothers and sister; and all of her nieces and nephews. Of course, she will also be missed by her very favorite companion, her treasured rescue dog, Rocky.

Her final days before passing were spent just as she had lived, adamantly standing up for herself and defying the odds and expectations of those around her. Her children visited and supported Kathy in the hospital (though often she was more-than-capable of advocating for herself). Kathy was always an incredibly strong woman. She admirably paved her own path on a difficult road and rose up to meet any hardships head-on. At times, she could be downright stubborn, but always out of love, and her tenacity compelled and empowered those around her to do the same,

Kathy’s presence could never be overlooked in any room but it also poured out to all those lucky enough to be around her throughout her life. Ask anyone who attended one of her legendary holiday parties that would shut down the streets in town. There was nothing that brought Kathy more joy than sitting at a large table with music playing, a glass of rum (“More ice please!”) in her hand, surrounded by her cherished family and friends laughing, sharing, and creating memories.

Kathy was the life of every party but she also had the unique ability to make even the most mundane tasks one of the funniest moments of your life. Whether Kathy was singing her heart out to you, karaoke style, to Johnny Angel or cooking up a delicious meal with love, everything was just better next to Kathy. Your food would actually taste better when experiencing the joy Kathy expressed with each bite.

Our hearts are broken with the loss of this incredible woman, but her essence remains in the memories of all of us who loved her. We will always remember how she brought and continues to bring, happiness and joy wherever she was, to whomever she touched.
