Kathleen (Kathy) Iverson, 68, long time resident of Tower and Virginia Minnesota, died on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Hilltop Healthcare Facility in Duluth.  Kathy was born on August 3, 1955 to Bernadine (Bunny) (McCabe) and Raymond Iverson.  Kathy graduated from St. Katherine’s in Minneapolis and multiple other learning institutions to further her studies in women, counseling and children.  She worked in many different areas of counseling in alcohol and drugs, but notably in Bemidji in her early years of counseling, and at the Juvenile Detention Center in Hastings, MN as a Probation officer.  She lived in multiple cities in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area over the last 40 years before moving back to the Iron Range where she was employed by Range Mental Health Center and the AEOA.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Step-Mother Minerva (Minnie) Liukkonen, sisters: Marlene Iverson Tawyea (Jim Tawyea), Elizabeth (Betty) Iverson Vaudrin, Sheila Iverson, brother: Richard (Dick) Iverson (Barbara Iverson). Step sister, Sharon Liukkonen Kinney, (Gary Kinney) Mt. Iron, MN.
Close friends/Foster family Bill & Norma Schleppegrell from Hibbing.
Kathy is survived by Nieces: Sharon Tawyea Antikainen (David Antikainen), Hibbing and Sun City Arizona; Michelle Iverson, Corpus Christi, Texas; Maria Tawyea, Hibbing; and Bobbie Vaudrin Adamiak (Jim Adamiak) Gilbert, MN. Nephew, Michael J Tawyea, Hibbing. Grand Nephew’s: Joshua Antikainen, Hibbing; Michael J Tawyea (Chrissy Stone Tawyea), Tower; Steven R. Tawyea, Minneapolis, MN; Andrew Antikainen, Eureka, California. And one great-great neice Trinity Tawyea. Step sisters: Kathy Liukkonen Staff (Jim Sarff) Zim, MN, Kay Liukkonen Trevena (Bob Tevena) Minneapolis, MN; and Step brother; Kevin Liukkonen (Jamie Liukkonen). And step nieces and nephew’s: Michael Kinney, Derrick Kinney, Jason Trevena, Tiffany Trevena and multiple step great nieces and nephews.  Special friends Mary Alice Johnson, Duluth, David and Sandy Wallin, Tower, and the Schleppegrell family of Hibbing.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, was an avid Vikings and Twins fan, loved to fish, hunt and camp.  She spent many years hunting, fishing, camping or spending time with family. Kathy was a prankster and jokester.  She will be missed and was loved by many.  Rest peacefully and enjoy your new life with your family again.  A Celebration of Life will be held next summer at Lake Vermilion.  Arrangements are by Affordable Cremation of Duluth.
