The Celebration of Life will be held at Family of God Lutheran Church, Duluth, MN on 2-12-2022.  Service from 1:00-2:00 PM, Immediate following the service will be the Celebration of life in the Fellowship Hall  from 2:00- 4:00 PM.

Karen Hope (Johnson) Bartlett passed away peacefully in her sleep while holding her beloved husband’s hand on 2-2-2022.   Karen was born October 24, 1943 in Duluth, MN to Ruth Crothers Johnson and John Jacob Johnson.  She graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1961.  She went on to beauty school in Duluth, MN.  She worked as a beautician at Donaldson’s in the cities until she couldn’t stand being apart from the love of her life.  She moved back to Duluth, married her love on August 7, 1965. She had many different jobs in the Duluth area and enjoyed them all.  She worked at an electrical company, an assistant at St. Mary’s, a lab technician, a personal care assistant at RSI, and then worked for and retired from Duluth Public Schools.

 

Karen is remembered for being loving and caring. She was a strong supporter of UMD Hockey and had season tickets for over fifty years.  She was very creative in sewing crafts, cooking and baking. She had a large group of friends whom she was fortunate to have her entire life and she loved them.

 

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Ronald Lee Bartlett.  Her loved and adored three children, Rene Montgomery (Robert), Duluth, MN; Tracy Vallie (Phillip), Duluth, MN; Ronda Spiroff (Trent), Suffolk, VA, and her nine beloved grandchildren: Amber Treveranus, Tim Vallie, TJ Vallie, Gregory Spiroff, Grant Montgomery, Haley Montgomery, Kaylea Spiroff, Mason Spiroff & Kaiyo Vallie (Emi),  and four great grandchildren: Mikayla and Azzy Treveranus, Logan & Aria Vallie. She is also survived by her three sisters, Cheryl Burbul (Charlie), Susan Brusch (Thomas), Becky Bradburn, and her brother John Johnson (June) and many treasured nieces and nephews and “adopted” family members.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Johnson & Ruth Johnson, her sisters Virginia Stevens, Nancy Miller, and Lynn Taival.
