June Thayer Olson, 93, of Saginaw, Minn., passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020.

June was born on June 25, 1927 in rural Danville, Iowa, along with her twin brother Jimmie Jewel Thayer, to Miller Aaron and Edna Pearl (Miller) Thayer. She was married to Robert Glenn Olson, on Sept. 1, 1949 in Washington D.C. and raised their five children in Arlington, Va. and later Danville, Iowa.

A graduate of Danville Community School (1945) and Burlington Business College, June worked as a secretary at Capital Airlines and a dietician at Burlington Hospital. The beloved mother and grandmother will be fondly remembered for her burnt toast, sense of humor, love of birds and puzzles, playing her cello, many sewing projects and exciting adventures traveling to visit family.

June was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Kenneth “Ken” Miller Thayer, Bonny Louise Thayer, Bob U.G. Thayer, Jimmie “Jim” Jewell Thayer, Wendall “Curt” Curtis Thayer, Zella Mae Thayer, Forest “Corky” Grant Thayer and grandchildren Heath Eric Olson, Shane Thomas Olson and Grace Marie Olson.

She is survived by her sister Lurene Ruth Clare of Camarillo, Calif., sister-in-law Margie Olson Garza of Rio Rancho, N.M., children Gail Lee (Mike) Oliver of Appleton, Wis., Robert Glenn (Donna) Olson, of Hills, Iowa, Jeanne Lee (Tim Carrier) Olson of North Pole, Alaska, Holly Lee (Randy) Feehan of Saginaw, Minn., James Richard (Holly) Olson of Cleveland, Ohio, as well as her 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cherished extended family.
