(Jon) “Johnnie” Peter Keye, age 83, passed away on December 5th, 2023, with his family by his side. Jon was born to Willard and Lorraine Keye on February 22nd, 1940, in Duluth Minnesota. He was a proud resident of Proctor, where he chose to make his lifelong home. Jon graduated from Proctor High School in 1957. After high school, he served in the US Army for 2 years. When he returned home, he started his career with the Missabe Railroad where he remained for 33 years. Jon met his loving wife, Patricia Morgan, in 1966. The couple were married in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in 1968. Jon was involved and served on several committees through the years. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cribbage. He was a life member of both the Moose and the American Legion. He enjoyed camping, spending time listening to the Morgan girls sing, and playing tennis. Jon had an appreciation of music. There was one song that warranted turning the sound up to and singing out loud, and that was “Sweet Caroline!” He was also a great accordion player. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as homemade chocolate chip cookies. His grand-daughters would visit and ask him to eat a cookie. They loved to watch him tap the cookie on his napkin and then go on to enjoy every last morsel. Jon will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The memories he left behind will be forever cherished. Jon leaves behind his wife Patricia of 55 years, his son Brad (Debbie) of Florida, his son Jamie (Stephanie) of Hermantown, 5 grandchildren; Chase, Macy, Elsie, Blake, and Brandon and extended family; Curt, Candy, Nick, Zack, and Jake Ellestad. A special “Thank you” to special friends; Vi, Kathy, and Stacy for everything that they have done. Also, a huge “Thank you” to our friends, family, neighbors, and the wonderful hospice staff and volunteers at St. Lukes for the care, love, and support given during this difficult time. We appreciate you all!
