Jean Shirley Miller eagerly went home to be with her Savior on January 17th. She was born
to Albert and Allie Kaping March 26th, 1938, and married the love of her life, Ray, on May 4th,
1956. They were happily married for 59 years. Jean’s difficult and complicated childhood
produced a kindness in her that she emanated to all those she knew. She never wanted
others to suffer and consistently sought to bring joy to those close to her. Her home had an
open door policy and no one left hungry. Jean easily became beloved by all and “Mama
Jean” to dozens as she constantly took care of those in her sphere.

Mom was a kind, inquisitive soul who loved to tease and loved learning about God. In her
spare time she could be found in her garden or sewing room or reading with her coffee, but
her heart was set upon her family and invested her life in all of us along with the people we
care about. Mom made every effort so that we would come to know Jesus and his
salvation. She loved her God, she loved her Ray, and she loved her “little people.”
Jean knew that when she died, she would go to heaven because she trusted in Jesus’
finished payment for her and her greatest concern in life was that others share that same
assurance when it is their time to leave this earth.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, sister Beverly, and brother Jim. She is survived
by her children Alan (Laurel) Miller, Cindy (Peter) Tranvik, Debbie (Mark) Dylla, Sandy
(Bradley) Smith, and Jim along with 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and many
nieces and nephews.
