Jannice Elmira (Landowski) Horton, 63, of Duluth MN passed away with her family by her side Thursday October 5, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital ICU from complications of pneumonia.

She was born November 30, 1959 to Roman and Alberta Landowski. Jannice spent most of her childhood growing up in Barnum, MN before moving to Esko, MN in her late teens. She married John Horton of Duluth October 30, 1981, they had two children; Chris Horton of Cloquet and Chassity Horton of Duluth.

As a child Niecy grew up on a farm and loved riding horses and would sneak off with her horse to the local lake for a swim. She was a spitfire all of her life. As a child, rather than wash the dishes, she would hide the pots and pans under the front porch until one day her brother found them. She was then elected the full time dish washer for a month. She often helped out on the farm, haying, milking, gardening and picking blueberries. She loved to cook and was always great, trying a new recipe for parties or gatherings.

She was a bartender from ’97 to 2021, making many friendships, she also worked as a vulnerable adult assistant in recent years.

Jannice was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Her family was her greatest joy. She often said she didn’t know what she would do without them. She helped raise two of her granddaughters through the years. Jannice’s door was open to many she was always there to offer anyone a meal, a place to stay, a ride or money if needed. We all will remember her ‘wiggs wiggle’ always joking around and being funny. She had a heart of gold, and her love, kindness, laughter and beautiful smile will always be remembered.

Preceded in death by; her parents, Roman ‘Jerry’ and Alberta Landowski; both grandparents, Michael and Caroline Landowski, Albert and Mamie Woorster;  and two nephews, Jeremy Godden and Joshua Landowski.

She is survived by; her husband, John Carl Horton; son Christopher Horton of Cloquet, Daughter Chassity Horton of Duluth;  four grandchildren, Hailey (Chris) Hanson of La Crosse, WI, Tirsa, Adelin, and Taylor Horton; seven siblings, Snooky Herman of Lander WY, Joetta Godden of Duluth, MN, Jerome Landowski of Prior Lake, MN, Julie Abrahamson of Esko, MN, Jon and Donna Landowski of Duluth, MN, Jody Landowski, Dolly (Steve) Kennworthy of Duluth, MN; several nieces nephews and numerous friends.
