James F. Moore, 55, died peacefully at his home in Duluth on April 2, 2014, surrounded by his family after a long and courageous journey with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Jim was born on December 18, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri, to John “Will” and Ruth Moore. Jim attended Fontbonne College in Missouri and graduated in 1981 with a degree in business. It was here that Jim met and courted his wife, Dana. They were married in 1983 and relocated to Duluth in 1986.

Jim enjoyed a long and successful career in sales with RJ Reynolds and Monson Trucking before his position as Senior Account Manager for Global Rental. Jim spent many years coaching recreational and club soccer teams, reviewed game film for the College of St. Scholastica soccer teams and served as President and Tournament Director for Gitchi Gummi Soccer Club.

Jim always counted his children among his proudest of accomplishments. Jim will be remembered fondly for his quick wit, his uncanny ability to listen and problem-solve, the unmatched support he gave his family, his positive mental attitude, his perfectly-manicured lawn and his love of golf, soccer, bicycling and outdoor activities.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Will and Ruth Moore, and his brother-in-law, Leonard Kohnen.

Jim is survived by his wife and soul mate, Dana Moore; two sons Patrick (Mallory) and Daniel; daughter Joey; sisters Pat, Mary, Maggie and Teri; his large extended family and many dear friends.

The family would like to thank Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Hospice Duluth Team for their guidance and care.

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at 2:30 pm on April 13, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at the College of St. Scholastica. A time to greet friends one hour prior to services, and a reception to follow at Somers Lounge. Services by Affordable Cremation & Burial.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to the Jim Moore Memorial Fund (Wells Fargo). Online condolences and remembrances at www.themooreyouknow.com
