Jack A. Larson 79, of Duluth passed away peacefully at his lake home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday August 4th. He was born May 10th 1942, in Minneapolis to LeRoy and Dorothy Larson.
Jack grew up in the Sauk Rapids area. He joined the marines at the age of 17 although he served just a short time he had many great stories of his time serving including jumping out of airplanes. He met and married Barbara J Chase on June 9th 1961, together they had 3 children, John, Lauri and Scott. He was an ambitiously adventurous man who loved racing motorcycles and snowmobiles, bowling, fishing and carpentry but most of all loved his family. For many years he owned and operated Rapids Recreation in Sauk Rapids, he was famously known as “Mad Jack”.
He had always dreamed of having a cabin on a lake in the north woods. After retiring he was able to turn a small extended family cabin on Lake Pequaywan into his permanent home. It was there that his only goal was to spend time with family and friends and of course to fish, a lot! Many great memories were made.
Jack was proceeded in death by his sisters Pam and Deb, brothers Gary, Richard, Ron, sister in law Arlone, brother in law Clayton and nephew Craig.
Jack is survived by his children John (Diane) Larson Hamburg, Lauri (Jim) Mills Rice, Scott (Michelle) Larson Rice, Sister Joan Grabinski, Brother Jim (Dixie) Larson, grandchildren Shelly, Andrew, Tommy, Chris, Laura, William, Caleb, Anthony, Jacob, his longtime companion and her children Jim, Kevin (Denise), Jason and Kelly along with many great and great great grandchildren.
He left us knowing he was going to his eternal Heavenly home to be with loved ones that had gone before him, this is our comfort and our joy.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
There will be a memorial/gathering of family and friends at
