Service Date April 20, 2026
Memorial services will be held at Presbyterian Church of Cloquet on Monday, April 20. Visitation will begin at 10:00 with services at 11:00 followed by a luncheon. Inurnment will be at Culver Cemetery at a later date.
Helen Marie Bong, age 92, went to be with her Lord Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Inter-Faith Care Center in Carlton. She was born July 26, 1933 in Cloquet, Mn to Maurice and Hilda (Bjork) Tromblay. She moved to the farm in Saginaw on Easter April 9, 1944 and “can you imagine with no electricity or running water.” She graduated from Brookston School with honors in 1951 and obtained a full 3 year scholarship to the St Luke’s School of Nursing. She was proud to have been selected to be a representative at MN Girls All State and to have 4H projects at the MN State Fair. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Bong on August 2, 1952.
Helen was an avid knitter and proudly stated that she had knit over 1000 sweaters along with scarves, mittens, and slippers. She loved to read and garden and her yard looked like a beautiful park in the summertime. She was an active member of Presbyterian Church of Cloquet where she participated on many committees and activities.
Her greatest pride of all was in her children and grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, daughter Vicky(Joel) Wilson, son Bradley Bong, her siblings and their spouses, and her in-laws. She is survived by son Keith (Nan) Bong, daughters Barbara Bong, Luanne (Kim Mathias) Kaspszak, and Kimberly Kuhl. Grandchildren Valerie Ferdinand, Benjamin Bong, Eric Bong, Logan Bong, Samuel Kaspszak, Sorrel Kaspszak, Mackenzie (Alex) Boddy, Lucas Kuhl, Randi (Alec) Junkert, Ryan Bong, great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law Carol(Lloyd)Bong.
