Visitation will begin Friday, January 20th at 10 am with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11 am at St John’s Catholic Church, 4230 St Johns Avenue. Interment at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery – Duluth.

Dwight “Dewey” L. Dinehart, 80 of Duluth passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 15, 2023.

Dewey was born in Duluth on November 29, 1942 to Donald and Katherine (Swor) Dinehart. He attended Cathedral school and served in the US Army in Vietnam. He was a member of the Teamsters Union working various jobs driving truck throughout the years and in 2009 retired from Northland Constructors with over 30 years of service.

On February 14, 1970, Dewey married Marylee Jazdzewski. Together they raised three children, Michelle, Jaime and Scott. Throughout his life he enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and working on things at home and at the cabin. He was a passionate animal lover and was always known to have a treat in his pockets for his granddogs. Upon retirement he enjoyed spending time at his cabin on Caribou Lake. In 2017 he was honored to be selected to participate in Honor Flight Northland with his daughters. Dewey and Marylee enjoyed wintering in the warmer climates of Arizona and Florida. His greatest joy was time spent with family, especially his only grandchild Lauren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Barbara Johnson.

He will be sadly missed by Marylee, his wife of almost 53 years, his three children Michelle, Jaime (Dale) Marcus, Scott (Cassandra), his granddaughter Lauren, brothers-in-law Dan and Mark Jazdzewski and many nieces and nephews.
