In Remembrance

Donald W Dougherty (Donnie) 85 of Duluth, MN died Saturday October 9, 2021 at St. Lukes Hospital after a long battle with health problems.

Don is survived by his wife of 62 years Carol (Kit) Dougherty, five of his six children Geri Hamilton, Pam Syring, Laurie Pappas, Tani Dwyer and Darin Dougherty, and his other son Dean (Dino) Dougherty passed 21 months ago. Two of his brothers Steve Dougherty of Proctor, MN and Bruce Dougherty of Ft Wayne, Indiana and several grandchildren.

Don was very well liked by the community and everyone that met him, he always made people laugh.

Don was very well known as the best bartender in town for many years. Working at the Proctor Legion, My Place, Embers, Le Grand, Casa De Roma and the Carlton House.

After several years of bartending Don put his talents to work as a Chef becoming the best Chef in town.  He settled in at the Pickwick in Duluth for 25 years.  He was very good at what he did and enjoyed it very much.  He received many compliments oh his food creations.

One of Don’s favorite past times was cooking for his family and friends.  He also loved to tell jokes.

 His humor and talents will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

A notice will be posted in the Duluth, News Tribune for his celebration of life.  We hope to see his friends there so they can share all the great stories from over the years. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Gopher Bar & Grill 402 Central Avenue on Sunday October 24, 2021 from 1-4. Full obituary will be found in The Reader that prints this week.
