Donald J. Jones, 80, passed away on October 17, 2020 at Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Duluth, MN.
Don was born October 11, 1940 in Decorah, Iowa to Francis and Hazel Jones. Don was a loving husband and father. Don was a Boiler Technician 2 in the Navy from 1959 to 1963. He worked in the boilers on the U.S.S. Ticonderoga and continued in boiler maintenance throughout his career with the State of Minnesota at Oak Terrace Sanitarium and the Silver Bay Veterans Home until his retirement.
An avid wood worker, Don built his own home near Gooseberry Falls. He always had some project going and also spent much time restoring repairable cars of all styles and makes. He also enjoyed traveling, camping and trail riding on his ATV with his wife Charmaine.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bob. He is survived by his wife, Charmaine (Silver Bay), his sisters Shirley Saffert (Anaheim, CA) and Patricia (Gene Cossairt) (St. Cloud); his son Tony Jones (Venice, CA), daughters Kathleen (Dustin) Weil, Margaret (Igor) Balandin, step daughter Gretchen (Chris) Johnson, step son Ben (Amy) Ollman, step grandchildren Sam, Mason, Sommer, Manor, Madison, many nieces and nephews, and lots of good friends.
