Derrick was born in Covina, California to loving parents Donald and Fay Aipoalani. He loved music, played the trumpet and was the drum major for the West Covina High School Marching Band. He graduated from Cal Poly Pomona College and received his Exercise Science and Kinesiology degree. Then went on to Western University of Health Sciences Medical School. He
completed his Endocrinology fellowship at University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. Derrick was an Endocrinologist at St Luke’s Hospital. Derrick, a Godly man, was
highly respected by family, friends, patients and colleagues alike. Sharon met Derrick as a student at Cal Poly Pomona at aged 19. They have been together almost 33 years.
Derrick leaves behind his wife Sharon of almost 23 years of marriage, and their only son Evan who is 19 years old.
