In Remembrance

Dennis O’Brien, 79 passed away with his family by his side on February 20, 2022 at St. Luke’s hospital.

He was born on November 27th, 1942 to Robert and Geannette O’Brien.

He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1961 and went on to receive his carpentry certificate from Salter Vocational School. He had his own construction company for many years and then went to work for various general contractors in the Duluth area. He served in the 148th Fighter Wing – Minnesota Air National Guard in Duluth, MN and was a volunteer fireman for Canosia Township

He was an avid sportsman. He loved to spend the summers at his cabin on Island Lake – fishing, boating entertaining and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed deer hunting and would sit for hours in his deer stand in hopes of shooting that big buck. He had a passion for trout fishing on Isle Royale and took many trips over the past 30 years. He made many friends from the island which led to countless stories and great memories.

He is preceded in death by his parents and niece Cathy Gardner. He is survived by; his daughter Lynne (John) Stephen and their children Jack, Madelyn and Max. His sister Patricia Swartz and her family, Barbara Jo (Rich Bagoly), Jeff (Shelly) Swartz and Bev Swartz, his brother Kevin O’Brien (Sandy) and their daughters, Amy and Sara along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will be holding a private service at a later date.
