In Remembrance

Daryl Davine (Smith) Uppgard passed away peacefully with her family and friends by her side on October 13, 2019 after fighting a courageous 5 year battle with breast cancer and over a year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Daryl was born February 24, 1940 in Duluth, Mn. to Benjamin and Martha Smith. She grew up at the Longview Tennis Courts where her father was a caretaker. She spent her childhood and teen years babysitting the neighborhood kids, playing tennis in the summer and ice skating in the winter. She attended Duluth East and graduated from Central in 1958. On January 2, 1959 Daryl married Curtis John Uppgard in Mason City, Ia. They enjoyed 60 years together raising their five children and traveling. Throughout her adult life Daryl worked at National Grocery Store, U.S. Steel in Morgan Park and Culver’s in Two Harbors. For 23 years Daryl was a clerk and rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

Daryl is preceded in death by; parents Ben and Martha Smith; sisters Fay Smith Johnson and Betty Smith Karo.

She is survived by; husband Curtis; children Darin (Sheri), Devry (Rebecca), Quentin (Diana), Cynthia (Chad) Jewell, Deirdra (William) Porretto; grandchildren Brianne (Bryan) Sleger, Benjamin (Candace) Uppgard, Nicholas Null, Samantha (Brandon) Pleshek, Lydia Porretto; step-grandchildren Briston Jewell, Stacy (Kevin) Breden, Jennifer (Rodney) Ernest, Kyle Rabold; great granchildren Olivia, Ezra, Stella, Hayden, Arlen, Harper and Alec; sister Joyce Lytle; brother Albert (Karen) Smith; many nieces and nephews.

A service will be held 6 P.M. Saturday October 19, 2019 at Kingdom Hall Two Harbors. There will be an audio tie-in at Northshore Community School 5926 Ryan Road for overflow
