There will be a celebration of life from 12-3 pm on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at CR’s Sports Bar, 8525 Cottonwood St. NW, Coon Rapids, MN. Lunch will be served. In celebration of Dan’s love for sports, feel free to come dressed in your Minnesota Wild or Minnesota Vikings apparel.

Daniel Mark Sargent, 59, of Duluth, died at home on Saturday, May 22nd, 2021 after a lengthy illness. He was born in 1962 in Minneapolis, MN, to Dennis and Kathryn Sargent. Dan grew up in the Twin Cities area, graduated from Anoka High School, and attended Brown Institute. Dan worked various jobs in the Twin Cities area before becoming a member of the Operating Engineers Local 49. He especially enjoyed working for Doboszenski & Sons of Loretto and appreciated their many acts of kindness during his illness. Dan grew up playing hockey, baseball and football although he was a fan of all sports. He demonstrated a strong passion for equality in sports for both men and women, often saying he wanted to see equal playing time for females. Dan gained many lifelong friends, some dating all the way back to his days in school. He had a strong love for his fur babies and also enjoyed working on vehicles and helping people with building projects.

Dan is preceded in death by his father, Dennis Sargent.

Dan is survived by his loving companion and partner, Holly Brown (Duluth); children Megan, Jessica and Alyssa Sargent, Sara and Ryan Siebert, and Madeline Brown; grandchildren, Makayla, Levi, Dominic, Audreanna, and Charleigh; mother, Kathryn Sargent (Donald Herrick) of Naples, FL; siblings, Dennis (Carlene) of Princeton, Lori (Doug) Peters of Andover, Darren of Blaine; step-siblings, Brad Herrick of Seattle, Steve Herrick of Anoka, Cheryl (Dave Eckberg) of Andover, Ann (Paul) Russel of Chicago, and Amy Herrick of Pittsburg; special nieces, Cassie, Shelly, Christine, Rosie, Samantha, Rochelle, and Bridget; and Holly’s father, Chester Christenson. Dan was highly loved and will be missed by many other family, friends and loved ones too numerous to list. The family would like to give special thanks to the Essentia Health Home Hospice team.
