Clyde O. Erikson, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Friday morning, March 9, 2018 at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth. He was born June 25, 1931 to Olaf and Sylvia (Sundquist) Erikson in Duluth.

Clyde graduated from Hermantown High School, and enlisted in the US Army, serving in an engineer battalion in Europe. Upon returning home, he met and married the love of his life, Bernice Swanson. Clyde worked as a self employed carpenter. A hammer was never far away, and he was always willing to help out with a building project. Clyde was a part of the Hermantown Historical Society’s Jackson Home project.

Clyde had a humble, unassuming nature, with a dry sense of humor. He could always bring a smile to all he met. Clyde spent many summers with the kids at the neighborhood baseball field, working with the kids.

He is preceded in death by; his parents; and beloved golden retriever Sandy, the best dog ever.

Clyde is survived by; loving wife of 60 years, Bernice; daughter Diane Ellison, son Alan (April) Erikson; sister Joyce Esselstrom; six grandchildren; friends Bob Noldin and Pat Snidarich; extended family and friends.

Clyde’s celebration service will be announced at later date. A special, “Thank you” to the hospice workers and Solvay for their excellent care.
