Claudia Louise Busch was born April 8, 1938 in Duluth to Ernest and Jennie Tafs and passed away on September 30, 2023. At the age of 2 years her family moved to Hermantown where she remained a resident until her death.

She graduated from Hermantown High School in 1956 and began her first job with St. Louis County until her first child was born. She was employed by the Hermantown school district and retired from the Lake Superior Railroad Museum, a job that she loved. She spent countless hours volunteering for the museum’s train excursions and special events. The train rarely left for an excursion without her. Staff and volunteers were her second family and she loved them all.

She worked tirelessly on the farm throughout the years, gardening, canning, out in the hay fields with the family. Her children were her greatest joy and often said she wouldn’t know what she would have done without them. Their support meant the world to her.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband, Robert, brother, Gerald Tafs, and sister, Marilyn Bronikowski.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Patti Anwiler), Duane (Marissa), Dana Quast, and Chris (Natalie), grandchildren Sarah Busch, Dr. Laura Quast (Sam Bearden), Garrett Busch, Katherine Busch, Nolan Busch and Mathew Hanson, and great grandchildren Maybree and Malloryn Hanson as well as numerous friends and caring neighbors.

At Claudia’s request, there will be no formal service.
