Lindman, Calvin F. ‘Cal’, age 72 of Bloomington, died peacefully with his family at this side on Mar 21, 2014 after a 4-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Survived by his wonderful wife of 49 years, Judith Hanson Lindman; daughters Kirsten Bowman, Karin Bartness (Jim), son Jamie (Allison) and eight adored grandchildren; sister Cheryl Hiemenz of Frazee, brother Curtis of Blaine.
Preceded in death by his parents, Winton and Ruth Lindman, and brother Charles.

Cal graduated from Ortonville HS in 1960 and Moorhead State in 1965 with a degree in Education. He later completed his Masters from Mankato. Cal had a distinguished 34-year career, teaching grades 5-6 at several Bloomington Schools. In addition to teaching, Cal was always on-the-go working and serving in numerous capacities: Driver’s Ed instructor; Bloomington Lion’s Club President and member; U of MN Tennis assistant; Bloomington Athletic Assoc; youth golf coach, Dwan GC; Lincoln HS Football Asst coach; Minnesota North Stars Penalty Box attendant; and numerous other volunteer activities. In his last years, he was still a regular substitute teacher, a youth golf coach, a hockey rink volunteer, and Dwan GC Starter/Ranger. More than anything, Cal loved working with kids.

Cal and Judy were Ortonville HS sweethearts and married in 1965. They planned family activities that fostered travel and cultural appreciation. Cal felt it was important to experience other regions and countries as a family; he and Judy encouraged their children on foreign-exchanges and hosted foreign students. Cal was especially proud that his children are career professionals and that their close families regularly gathered for holidays, birthdays, and summer pool parties at the family home. He loved hosting groups of family and friends.

He will be remembered most for his limitless contributions to youth, welcoming kindness, deep integrity, selflessness, and generous community service. Cal will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
