A visitation will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, January 11th at Salem Lutheran Church, 4715 Hermantown Rd, Duluth, MN 55811 followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM
Betty Mesedahl, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in Duluth. She was born July 31, 1930 to Alex and Lena (Erickson) Johnson in Duluth, MN.
Betty was raised on a farm in Gnesen township and graduated from Central High School and the St. Luke’s School of Nursing. She was a career nurse for St. Luke’s, and was very proud of her work there. Betty married Leroy Mesedahl in 1952 and endeavored to raise three young men. She was a long-time member of Salem Lutheran Church, active in the St. Luke’s Nurses Alumni Association, and was proud of her Swedish heritage, visiting relatives in the “old country” and singing in the Swedish Choir.
Betty loved to travel, and also to spend time at the family cabin on the Gunflint Trail. She was always happy with a fishing pole in hand. Betty’s extroverted energy, compassion, and tenderness will be dearly missed by her family.
She is preceded in death by; husband Lee Mesedahl; her parents; and her brother Kenneth.
Betty is survived by; sons Keith (Sheri), Gordon (Kristen), David (Lisa); grandchildren Dan, Bob, Tami Vukonich, Alyssa, Karl; great-grandchildren Caleb, Lydia, Jack, George, Owen, Avery, Oskar; sister Ruth Oland; many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
Heartfelt thanks to caregivers at The Terrace and Marywood at Benedictine Health System for the compassionate and loving care Betty received in her last years.
