Bertha Sherner
May 18, 1931 - February 4, 2023
Bertha “Babe” Sherner passed away in Duluth, MN on February 4, 2023, at age 91 after battling cancers for the past year. Bea was born on May 18, 1931 in Hornell, NY to Dewey Rex Flaitz and Bertha Rosalie Slagth Flaitz. She married Clair “Brick” Sherner in 1949 and they raised their three children, Steve, Pete & Cindy, in Arkport, NY. Babe was active in the local Home Bureau and Boy Scouts. Babe and Brick started and operated the Sherner Greenhouse family business in Arkport for many years. After closing the business she returned to school and became a nurse so she could care for others. In 1989, she moved to Duluth, MN following the death of her beloved husband as her adult children were all raising growing families in MN.
She recently lost her best friend and older sister, Rosemary, at age 101. She is survived by her sister, Carol Joe Rennells, her 3 adult children, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild, all living in MN, MT and WI. She was known as Grammie to all and will be missed.
She requested no service and will be buried next to her husband at the cemetery in Arkport, N.Y.
