Barbara Jurek
December 23, 1938 - July 22, 2024
Per Barb’s wishes there will be no service. A small graveside gathering will be held at a later date for close family and friends.
Barbara (Barb) Jean (Adamski) Jurek 85, of Duluth, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024 at Open Arms Health Care.
Barb was born in Duluth, MN on December 23, 1938 to John and Helen (Bubacz) Adamski. She was a 1956 Denfeld High School graduate and worked at St. Louis County Welfare for four years, during which time she married the love of her life, Bud Jurek. Barb became a homemaker, raising their three girls, Lynnette, Lori, and Lisa. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, was a dedicated bowler from 1966 – 1995, enjoyed downhill and cross country skiing, biking, pottery, stained glass work, belonged to the Devil’s Darlings Snowmobile Club, Stitch and Bitch Club and Fats Club. She spent hours at her sewing machine sewing beautiful clothes for us girls and herself and loved to spend time in her perennial garden.
Barb lost a piece of herself when the love of her life passed away suddenly in 1992. She is once again at his side, happy and whole.
Barb is preceded in death by her parents; husband Bud Jurek; daughter Lori Negard and her beloved Peanut (her bird). She is survived by her daughters Lynnette Bishop and Lisa (Scott) Pichetti; sister Darlene Lindquist; grandsons; great grandsons and Sweaty May (her cat).
