In Remembrance

Trudy Marie Olson, age 71, of Sturgeon Lake, MN, passed away peacefully at her home on
Monday, July 14, 2025, with her husband, Ken, and daughter, Jennifer, by her side.

Trudy was born on March 14, 1954, in Cloquet, MN, to Charles and Dorothy (Kerttula) Mayne.
She graduated from Cloquet High School in June 1973. On June 30, 1973, Trudy married the
love of her life, Ken Olson, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cloquet.

The couple spent their first year of marriage in Imperial, California, while Ken was stationed in
the Navy. In 1974, they returned to Minnesota to start their family, where they were blessed with
three children: Jennifer, Melinda, and Peter.

Trudy’s career was defined by her nurturing spirit. She ran a home daycare in Moose Lake for
over eight years and later worked as the deli manager at the Holiday gas station in Moose Lake.
In 2002, Trudy and Ken moved to Burnsville, MN, and later returned to Sturgeon Lake in 2014.

They spent their winters as snowbirds in Yuma, Arizona, where Trudy enjoyed the sunshine and
time with her husband. Trudy’s hobbies included painting with friends and quilting with her good
friend Rosie.

Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and
great-grandsons. Known for her kindness and generosity, Trudy was always there to lend a
hand to those in need.

Trudy is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dorothy Mayne; her in-laws, Axel and
Marie Gustafson, and Norman J. Olson; sisters, Bonnie Olson and Tina Grimm; and
brother-in-law, Vernon Olson.

She is survived by her best friend and husband of 52 years, Ken Olson; their children, Jennifer
(Doug) Collier, Melinda (Marty) Vagle, and Peter (Jen) Olson; eight grandchildren, Tiffani (Brian),
Hannah (Juan), Trevor (Savannah), Luther (Alyssa), Tanner (Morgan), Jacob, Jackson, and
Lilly; and three great-grandsons, Mattias, Jax, and Waylon. Trudy is also survived by her two
step-granddaughters, Audrea and Taylor; brothers, Bob (Jane) Mayne and Michael (Deb) Orrey;
sisters, Dora (Randy) Johnston and Julie Norman; brothers-in-laws, Steven Olson and Kurt
Grimm; several nieces and nephews; her best friend, Sue Bengtson; bonus family, Genia,
Aspen, and Chase LaCosse; and her beloved dog, Stella.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 11 a.m. on July 26, 2025, at Hope
Lutheran Church in Moose Lake, MN. The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m., with a luncheon
to follow.

The family extends a special ‘Thank you’ to their family friend, Jackie Streefland, for her
unwavering support, and to St. Croix Hospice for the amazing work they did to take care of Ma.
