Rueben J Hoheisel
October 11, 1937 - January 20, 2025
Rueben Hoheisel, 87 year old former resident of Pierz, passed away peacefully Monday, January 20th, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. Dad left this earthly realm and is reunited with his wife, Madeline, who passed away last year, after 54 years of marriage.
A private family Prayer Service and Inurnment will take place at a later date at Saint Rita’s Catholic Cemetery in Hillman.
Rueben was born October 11th, 1937 in Buckman, to Grandpa Joseph P. Jr. and Grandma Edna M. (Kahlich) Hoheisel. Dad graduated from Father Pierz Memorial High in 1955 – an athlete on the basketball court and baseball diamond. As a youth and young adult, Dad worked at the family business, Hoheisel Hardware in Buckman.
Rueben and Madeline Cremers were wed at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, July 20th, 1970.
The young couple settled in Buckman, where they took over the family business. They operated that business until 1981. In 1983, they bought Hoheisel Hardware Hank in Onamia, and operated that business until they retired in 2000.
Dad was active in Church Councils, and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed traveling throughout his life. He also passed his passion for baseball on to his four sons, who each excelled at the sport in high school and amateur adult leagues. He enjoyed watching all the Minnesota professional teams – but none more than the Twins.
Dad was preceded in death by his wife, parents, in-laws Edwin and Helen Cremers, nephew John Stenner, and brother- and sister-in-laws James and Theresa Warrick, and Helen and Larry Schmidtbauer. He is survived by his sons Kevin (Jan) of Hiawatha, IA, Timothy (partner Bridget) of Sioux Falls, SD, Christopher (Amy) of New Prague, Patrick (Sara) of Minneapolis, grandchildren Nolan and Kate Hoheisel, step-grandchildren Noah and Savanna Block, sister Doreen (Richard) Stenner of Fort Collins, CO, sister-in-law Patricia (Daniel) Kapsner of Mankato, Austrian exchange student Andreas (Denise) Baumgartner, and many special cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the compassionate care Dad received at Good Shepherd and CentraCare Hospital, in particular to the selfless hours spent by Dr. Jack Lyons with Rueben and the family.
