Patrick Alexander passed away peacefully, in his home, on March 1, 2025. His wife and children were at his side and surrounded him with their love. Patrick was born on December 10, 1938 to parents Frank and Anna Alexander. He grew up in the West End area with his sister Barbara and attended Denfeld and Central High Schools.

On September 13, 1958 Patrick married the love of his life, Sharon (Aubut) Alexander and they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this past September, they shared a lifetime of devotion to each other. Patrick and Sharon have three children: Dean, Jeanine, and Nicholas Alexander, all of Duluth, MN.

Patrick started his employment with the City of Duluth in the Water and Gas Department. He became a Police Officer for the City of Duluth in March of 1965 where his brother, Daniel Price, also served. Patrick worked the remainder of his career with the Duluth Police Department, serving as a patrol officer, Sergeant and head of the narcotics bureau, and supervisor of training and standards. He was named the City of Duluth’s employee of the month in May of 1989 and received the Duluth Noon Optimists Club Police Officer of the Year award that same year. Patrick also helped establish the security program for the Miller Hill Mall in the 1970’s. He retired as a Sergeant from the Duluth Police Department at the end of 1992.

Patrick and Sharon purchased a small cabin on Alden Lake in the 1970’s and this was a source of many family memories. Hunting, fishing, great food and simply family time was enjoyed at this cabin by multiple generations of family members, and it remains in the family today. In retirement Patrick’s dedication to his family became more evident as he selflessly cared for family members in their times of need, continued to support and contribute to the success of his children, became a grandfather to three beloved grandchildren, and always showed his unwavering love to his wife Sharon. Holiday gatherings and special events with family were always something Patrick took great joy in. Patrick and Sharon are long time members of First United Methodist Church (The Coppertop) where daughter Jeanine is currently the pastor.

Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Anna Alexander, sister Barbara Paplior, brother Daniel Price, father-in-law Emil Aubut, mother-in-law Dorothy Aubut, and others. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon – sometimes known to him as his “little doll”; children Dean (Terri) Alexander, Jeanine (Larry Ehresman) Alexander, and Nicholas (Jamie) Alexander; grandchildren Klare Alexander, Daniel Niemi, and Lincoln Alexander; and many nieces and nephews.

Patrick’s life involved service to his community, friends and family. Most importantly, he will be remembered for the love and kindness he showered on his family, a gift we will always cherish and hold close to our hearts. He will be deeply missed but remain in our hearts and memories forever. Patrick loved the song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” and we are certain that is how he would want us to move forward.
