Nancy Ann Nelson
July 19, 1923 - August 17, 2025
A memorial is being planned for July 2026.
Nancy Ann Nelson passed away at the age of 102, after a caring, adventurous, and productive
life. She grew up in Albert Lea, MN and attended Antioch College before marrying and starting a
family. She was a dedicated mother, a librarian devoted to books and reading, and an intrepid
world traveler. A lifelong birder and lover of the outdoors, Nancy was also insatiably curious
about the world. She kept an active mind all her life (and loved a good argument!). She is
survived by her children Smith (Deb) Treuer, Paul (Mary) Treuer, and Derek (Elissa) Treuer;
partner Jo Friedberg; and numerous grand-, great-grand-, and great-great-grandchildren.
Donations in her memory may be made to Duluth Public Library or other causes championed by
Nancy.
