Jane Ann (Tousignant) Stevens
Born July 9th, 1962, To Rene and Patricia Tousignant of Swanville Mn. Passed from this life after a battle with cancer on Oct. 18th, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rene Tousignant and Patricia (Larson) Altrichter and her sister Linnie Tousignant.
She is survived by her husband Todd, their five children: Christopher, Kate (Norwood), Michelle (Beason), Benjamin and Emily, and her nephew Daniel Tousignant.
Jane graduated from Swanville high school in 1980, then graduated from St. Paul Bible College in 1984 with a degree in communications. She married Todd Stevens in 1984 and lived all 41 years of her married life in Mission Township. After homeschooling all five of her intelligent, beautiful children, she went back to school and got her degree in Natural Resources from CLC, fulfilling her lifelong dream of working with anything nature. She worked as a park ranger in Crosslake, taught Master Naturalist classes and youth classes on nature at the Northland Arboretum in Brainerd. She was a member of many clubs and organizations, as long as it was related to nature. She volunteered for many “citizen science” projects like Bee boxes and frog counting for the U of M. She was an accomplished and award-winning photographer, which meant that any walk she went on must include time for pictures.
Jane gave us her best “Minnesota Goodbye” as she gave family and close friends enough time to say goodbye. We got to hold her hand and be with each other through the tears while telling beautiful stories, laughing about our favorite mom/Jane quirks and random things she had aversions to. It was a very meaningful time, and we will forever be grateful. We will now do our best to remember where and how she lived, not where she died.
While there is not enough room here to express our love for Jane nor the impact that she had on so many, many lives, we will continue to carry her love for God, people, and her love of everything nature, while she is out exploring with the One who created all of it.
Thank you to everyone who has been so generous with your time, finances, prayers and thoughts. We are deeply grateful for your support as we walk through the grief of losing someone so special. Please visit her Facebook page and leave a comment.
