Irene M Rasmussen
September 15, 1935 - December 26, 2024
Irene M. Rasmussen, 89 passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, on December 26, 2024, at St. Lukes Hospital.
She was born on September 15, 1935, in Surgeon Lake, MN to Nick and Anna Tobolaski.
After Irene grew up, she moved to a farm in Cloquet, MN where she raised her six children. After her children were raised, she built a home in Brookston, MN with the love of her life, Howard Rasmussen. Irene continued to farm until the time of her death.
Irene loved to farm even as recently as this summer she was raking hay and raising chickens. Irene loved all animals, but she was especially fond of horses and dogs. Her faithful companion, Luna, a Great Pyrenees, was always at her side.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, parents and her three brothers Nick, Chet, and Roy, one sister Margie (Kitty) Mitchell, and two sons-in-law, Reynold Carlson, and Steve Bowman.
She is survived by her six children: Nancy Carlson, Mary (Dyke) Golen, Betty Bowman, Joanne Vnuk, Janice (Brian) Laurie, John (Susie) Ranta, eight grandchildren, ten greatgrandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held this summer at the farm.
