In Remembrance

Edna Samuelson, 93, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother went home to be with the Lord on May 18, 2024. She was born to Esther & Gust Brandt on May 13, 1931, at home on Swede Lake in Cromwell, Minnesota.

Edna graduated from Cromwell High School in 1949 and attended the University of MN, St. Paul for a time until an illness brought her home. She married Richard Samuelson on October 21,1951 and together they raised two children, Vickie and Steve.

Edna was an expert seamstress and made many beautiful dresses for weddings and special occasions. In her later years she took up quilting and was privileged to help some expert and well-known quilters at several quilting conventions in Duluth. Her children and grandchildren cherish the quilts she made especially for them. She also made many quilts which she donated to Lutheran World Relief. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wright, Minnesota and active in women’s ministry.

She was preceded in death by; her parents, her husband Richard, brothers Billy Brandt, Donnie Brandt, Jim Johnson, Harvey Johnson and sisters Dorothy Hanson, Betty Anderson, and Bernice Orlowski.

She is survived by; her children Vickie (Jeffrey) Cadwell, Steve Samuelson; granddaughter Ashlea (Brian) Fergus; five great-grandchildren Sawyer, Solveigh, Soren, Sutton, and Sullivan; her sister Doris (Ed) Raden; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bode and the Cromwell Clinic for their compassionate care.

Memorials can be made to Lutheran World Relief or Gideons International.

Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Alliance Community Church, 2621 W. Arrowhead Rd., Duluth, MN, also one hour prior to the 11:00 Funeral Service, Friday May 24, 2024 at the church. Reception to follow, burial at Wright Public Cemetery, Wright, MN.
