Catherine “Cathy” Myhre (Davis)

March 15, 1958 – December 20, 2025

Catherine “Cathy” Myhre (Davis), age 67, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away on December 20, 2025.

Born and raised in Duluth, MN as Cathy Davis, she was a 1976 graduate of Denfeld High School and attended Lake Superior College. Cathy worked for Duluth Public Schools for many years before switching to in-home childcare, lovingly caring for many children throughout the years.

Athletics were an important part of Cathy’s life. During her teenage years, she played broomball and basketball, and after graduation she became a talented pitcher on numerous women’s slow-pitch softball teams. She played competitively well into adulthood before happily stepping back to attend her children’s sporting events—something she never missed.

A true sports fanatic, Cathy was a devoted fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, and especially the Minnesota Wild. She held season tickets for the Duluth Dukes, UMD Bulldogs men’s hockey, and Proctor Speedway races.   Her love of dirt-track racing began in childhood while attending races with her father, and she later followed all NASCAR series events, with a highlight being a race she attended in Phoenix, Arizona in 2008.

Wherever Cathy went, she was surrounded by friends. Sporting events, grocery stores, or mailing a package, Cathy was stopping to talk to someone.  She had a gift for striking up conversations with strangers and was often the first to greet someone she hadn’t seen in years. Cathy had a special way of making people feel seen, welcomed, and valued.

Her positivity and willingness to help others brought smiles to many faces. In recent years, she spent much of her time driving friends to grocery stores and medical appointments—though never during her grandchildren’s sporting events. Cathy attended games year-round, always showing up for her family.

Cathy was a true social butterfly. She was a member of Salem Covenant Church and an active participant in Community Bible Study, where she cherished the strong sense of family. As a resident of Faith Haven, she stayed busy participating in social activities, serving as a floor monitor, and forming many meaningful friendships.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Paul Myhre; her son, Michael (Angela) Davis; her daughter, Melisa (Michael Jr.) Broeckert; her siblings, Denny (Linda) Davis, Larry (Roxie) Davis, Tim (Laurie) Davis, Tom Davis, Julie (Jim) Willeck, and Jim Davis; seven grandchildren, Brianna (Tyler) VanGuilder, Brittany Brim, Eric Klaysmat Jr., Angel Davis, Brooklyn Davis, Callie Davis, and Morgan Davis; and her three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Olivia, and Michael VanGuilder.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Jr. and Marianne Davis, and her grandchild, Ethan Klaysmat.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 14, 2026 at Salem Covenant Church at 11 AM.  Please wear Minnesota Wild (Hockey) clothing or University of Minnesota Duluth Hockey clothing, if you have it, or casual dress.  A light lunch will be provided.
