Kat Ramsland Kat Ramsland was the daughter of Max and Betty Ramsland. She was a daughter, mother, wife and friend to many. She was a faculty member in the arts department of Lake Superior College. She died, as did her son, Oliver, at the hands of her mentally ill husband, Tony, shortly before his suicide. This was a mental health tragedy. Between Kat, Oliver and Tony there was much love, and hope that Tony would find mental health and resolution for his problems, but that didn’t happen. Kat loved her teaching job and her students, along with the friends and colleagues she met during her life. She was bright, creative, enthusiastic, and caring. Her life had purpose, and she helped and guided many people. Oliver so enjoyed his new school and first grade at Rockridge Academy. We all saw him blossom into a healthy and happy child, sparkling with joy. He was big-hearted, full of life, and loved to share. His love of legos and minecraft were his constant conversation. Kat and Oliver will be dearly missed by Betty (mother, grandmother), Austin (brother, uncle), and Marcia Ramsland (aunt), along with friends who shared their lives. There will be a gathering to remember and honor them at Lake Superior College Commons on Thursday, November 14th at 4:30. Students, family, friends – all are welcome. |
