Annette Port
Annette Port, age 77, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Twin Ports Health Services in Superior, Wisconsin. Annette Marie Port was born on December 16, 1946, in Wausau, Wisconsin to Richard and Gertrude (Lindgren) Webster. On August 27, 1966, she was united in marriage with Russell Port in Juneau, Wisconsin. They eventually found their way to Duluth, Minnesota where they set down roots and raised their three children. Annette worked for the Hermantown school district as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. She then moved on to Lake Superior College where she had a long tenure as an instructor in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program. She wound down her career at Essentia Health as their Hospice volunteer supervisor. Annette was known for her love of all people and her family. Her favorite past times were playing cribbage (trying to skunk Russ at every opportunity), reading, golfing and spending time at the family cottage. Annette was also extremely crafty. She would personalize greeting cards she sent out with calligraphy, a drawing she sketched, or an origami shape she made. She also enjoyed sewing, anything from clothing to personalized blankets for her grandkids. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her friends, especially the Double Uglies. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family is incredibly grateful to Twin Ports Health Services and the Essentia Health Hospice program for their help and support through this difficult time. Annette is survived by her loving children, Eva (Darrin) Berg of Duluth, MN, Jason (Angelica) Port of Las Vegas, NV, and Ben (Lori) Port of Minnetrista, MN; grandchildren, Gina (Brady) Halvorson of Bessemer, MI, Annie Sanchez of Chester, VA, Austin Berg of Duluth, MN, Dylan Berg of Duluth, MN, Jacob Port of Woodbury, MN, Sydney Port of Chicago, IL, Grace Port of Minneapolis, MN, Mariah Port of Minneapolis, MN, and Calista Port of Minnetrista, MN; six great-grandchildren; sisters Sandra (Alana) Leigh-Schilling of Wilmington, NC and Pamela (Jeff) Ebert of Franklin, WI; nieces and nephews; and many other wonderful relatives and dear friends. Annette was preceded in death by her husband Russell Port and her parents. A celebration of life honoring Annette will be held in the Grand Colosseum Ballroom at VIP Pizza, 1201 Tower Avenue in Superior, Wisconsin on Sunday September 29, 2024 from noon-3:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date at North Burnett Cemetery, Dodge County, Wisconsin.
