Karen Kay Eckberg (Vig) 70 was granted her angel wings peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones March 8, 2023. Karen was born in Shell Lake Wi on March 15, 1952 to LeRoy and Kathleen Vig (LaFond). She graduated from Northwood High school in Minong Wi. She attended classes at WITC and worked many years in healthcare. Throughout her lifetime she worked as a seamstress and did reupholstery. Karen was beautiful in every way. She was kind, caring, giving, nurturing and always so full of laughter. To know Karen was to love her. She gave a rare but pure authentic kind of love, one without expectations or caveats. She has a way of knowing just who needed a little extra love and when. She was genuine. Karen was a phenomenal artist and spent many of her younger years sketching and drawing. Karen painted her school mascot “The Mighty Evergreen” and her painting is still on display now. She is the originator of her “Miss Bee” and “ Tweedle Bug” that she never missed an opportunity to draw on birthday cards or Christmas presents. She enjoyed rummage sales, car rides out on country roads with her sister Katie, animals of any kind but especially her wiener dogs and pigs ,playing cards, puffing her corn cob pipe, cooking, and baking. Karen was also a spot on trap shooter where she was known for outshooting most men. She looked forward to her annual tomato plant competition with Butch. Above all else she loved her family and friends. Karen’s home was always the gatherings spot. Her open door policy applied to anyone and you could always count on a hot pot of coffee, a baked good and a seat at her table. Being a grandma was her favorite role and that was evident by the commitment she had in helping raise her granddaughters and the in measurable amount of love she poured into all of her babies. She is proceeded in death by her parents LeRoy and Kathleen. Four brothers LeRoy, Edward, Leslie and Tony. Three sisters Monica, Alberta and Sharon. Her Aunt Hellen and Uncle Elgin Shermer. She is survived by the love of her life Kenneth (Butch) Kasper whom she loved for over 40 years and always admired for his good looks. Even after her dementia set in she could spot “her guy” out from a mile away. Her son Drew (Kelly), daughter Kathleen, sisters Katie and Perri (Tasos), brothers Randy (Marion) and Charles (Dianne), grandchildren Samantha, Taylor and Chaede (Apollo). Her great grandchildren Milania, Aurora, Atlas and Neveah along with an abundance of nieces and nephews that were greatly loved. A very special niece who was truly more of a daughter Cyndy (Lalo) Rosales and a very special family friend Kim (Paul) Tyson. Life long friends she held near and dear to her heart Nancy Mattila, Chris Richardson and Tom Eckberg. A special thank you to all of the girls at Fresenius Dialysis and staff at Twin Ports Health Services. Thank you for all of the love and care you provided Karen it never went unnoticed.
