It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that the Hicks family announces the death of Jeffery Alan Hicks of Duluth, MN. Jeff died at St. Mary’s hospital after a quick and courageous battle with cancer. Jeff was diagnosed on September 2nd, 2022 and left us a few short weeks later. First child of Bruce and Janet Hicks, Jeff graduated from Central high school in 1977. He spent many years working side by side with his parents in their business, Highland Bakery. Over the years Jeff enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, boating, fishing, skiing, and snowmobiling. He liked to be busy and was easily one of the hardest working people anyone knew. He had a kind soul and never hesitated to help someone in need. He will always be remembered by his silly jokes, positive attitude and adventure for life. There was never a challenge that Jeff didn’t take on, as an avid DIY’er he was self taught and became knowledgeable on most things mechanical, which helped him immensely in his logging business. Jeff had many dreams and goals ahead of him which included spending time camping, fishing, snowmobiling and teaching all that to his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. Many would say Jeff was the life of the party which became his biggest challenge. Jeff successfully and proudly shifted his focus over the past years to his family, and we all felt that. Jeff will be missed beyond measure and his transition to heaven has left a whole in our hearts.
Jeff is preceeded in death by his best friend and father, Bruce Duncan Hicks.
Jeff is survived by his daughter, Aimee Hicks (Joey), son Jeffery Hicks, his mother Janet Hicks, sister Sandra (Patrick) Buckley, brother Joe (Lori) Hicks, closest friend Torina Grafmyre, his two grandchildren; Noah and Gracelyn. Nephews and niece Joe and Samantha Buckley, Brandon and Brody Hicks and many cousins, and close friends.
